What exactly is an MRI?

An MRI is a completely non-invasive scan that is incredibly insignificant risk. MRI’s do not use any radiation: instead, it uses a large magnet, radio waves, and a sophisticated computer system to take detailed internal images of the patient’s body. Magnetic Resonance Imaging, also known as an “MRI,” is an imaging procedure used by physicians to look inside the human body to obtain diagnostic data. A Tamarac MRI is a simple and pain-free way to diagnose disease or injury, even in the earliest of stages.

The doctor often orders patients to have an MRI when they are unable to diagnose an injury or illness from the outside of the body and need to get a closer look at what is going on from the inside. Tamarac MRI scans help doctors determine the best treatment path for their patients.

What can MRI’s detect?

Getting an MRI scan can detect any disease early on and can save you or a loved one’s life. MRIs can detect a wide variety of conditions and injuries. It is most commonly used to examine any concerns with organs, tissues, and the skeletal system; however, it can also be used for detecting:

Breast Tissue

Heart and Blood Flow/Vessel Disorders

Traumatic Injuries

Liver and other Abdominal Diseases

Eye Abnormalities

Kidneys

Cardiac Malformations

Spine Diseases

Knee and Shoulder Injuries

Tumor Detection

Musculoskeletal Disorders

Uterus and Ovaries

Stress Fractures

Facial/Neck Abnormalities

Bones and Joint

Brain Disorders

These are just a few of the most public areas that use MRI’s to diagnose injury and illness, but there are many more. If you think you need a Tamarac MRI, it is important to schedule an appointment with your regular doctor or specialist so that they can tell you if it will be beneficial for you.
