What is an MRI?

An MRI is an entirely non-invasive scan that is incredibly insignificant risk. MRI’s do not use any radiation: instead, it uses a large magnet, radio waves, and a complex computer system to take detailed internal images of the patient’s body.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging, also known as an “MRI,” is an imaging procedure used by physicians to take a look inside the human body to obtain diagnostic data. MRI combines the powerful magnetic fields with radio waves to create computer-generated images of soft tissue in the body. MRI procedures are beneficial in lowering the need for additional diagnostic procedures or invasive surgeries that may have associated complications.

An MRI is a simple and pain-free way to diagnose disease or injury, even in the earliest of stages. The doctor often orders patients to have an MRI when they are unable to diagnose an injury or illness from the outside of the body and need to get a closer look at what is going on from the inside. MRI scans help doctors determine the best treatment path for their patients.
